DH&T Awards 2014 are now open for your entries!
The inaugural DH&T Awards were a huge success and we are delighted to announce the return of the awards. The 2014 event introduces a brand new venue, additional categories and more famous faces on the judging panel. Do you have what it takes to be this year’s Best Hygienist or Therapist of the Year?
The role of Dental Hygienists and Therapists continues to grow, your skill set has never been more key and your position within the dental team never more valued. The DH&T Awards exist to reward and recognise individuals within the profession.
The stunning Vinopolis in central London played host to the 2012 awards that attracted entries from across the UK.
DH&Ts merged on England’s capital to an awards ceremony specifically created to celebrate the achievements and hard work of hygienists and therapists.
The role of dental hygienists and therapists continues to grow and the launch of these awards celebrated this.
The afternoon of celebrations included a sumptuous meal in a venue situated under the massive Victorian arches by the Thames at Bankside, Southwark.

If you are a dental hygienist or therapist, aged 30 or under on day of application, then why not enter this category? If you have worked hard and produced impressive results throughout your career then get the recognition you deserve! Please include a photo and 750-1,500 words on why you fit the bill.

Best Preventive Practice
This category is designed to recognise the UK practice with the strongest, best established and well thought out preventive ethos. As a team, you will successfully communicate the oral health message to your patients, you will work together to raise oral health standards. You may send in as much supporting evidence as you like, as well as, your team’s personal opinions and patient testimonials. Please include a photo and 750-1,500 words.

Effective marketing can mean the difference between success and failure. With many of you now using social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, marketing can come easy – but it’s those who think outside the box that dream up the best campaigns! Please include proof of effective marketing.

Judging the Awards
These prestigious awards feature an esteemed panel of experts. Chaired by Julie Bissett, the judges will study all entries and compile a short list and a winner for each category.

Julie Bissett - Chair
Julie is publisher and managing editor of Dental Hygiene & Therapy which launched in November 2011. She has worked at FMC since January 2008.

Melonie Prebble
Melonie is a member of the dental industry for more than 20 years, Mel qualified as a dental hygienist in 1995. Her experience has led her to focus on business development and management, offering consultancy services and coaching.

Diane Rochford
Diane has been working in Dentistry for over 20 years. First, as a Dental Nurse. Before qualifying as a Dental Hygienist from Guy’s Hospital, London in 1996. She was awarded the Hu-Friedy Scaling prize. Diane joined Dr. Linda Greenwall’s team in September, 1996.

Margaret Ross
Margaret is Senior Lecturer for Dental Care Professionals and Programme Director of the BSc (Hons) Oral Health Sciences degree at the University of Edinburgh, based within Edinburgh Dental Institute.

Donna Schembri
Donna is a Hygienist with over twenty years of experience in dentistry, qualifying in 1994 from the Royal Army Dental Corps School of Hygiene as a civilian student. Shortly after qualifying she moved to Hong Kong, where she worked at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a very perio orientated, private American specialist clinic.

John Stanfield
John is a Dental Hygienist with over 30 years of experience. As well as his clinical work John was the Editor of 'Team in Practice' a quarterly educational journal for the dental team. He is the vice chair of the DCP committee at the Faculty of General Dental Practice and until recently an assessor for the FGDP Keyskills for DCP's.

Ewa Rozwadowska
Ewa is founder and joint principal of Confident Dental Care in Stroud, Glos. She is passionate about children’s dentistry and enjoys comprehensive aesthetic dentistry. Her practice was the first in the UK to achieve Investor in People, and has won Private Dentistry Practice Team of the Year and Preventive Practice of the Year for her Steps to Health hygienist programme.

Sally Goss
Sally was President of the British Dental Heath Foundation until 2000 and was voted Hygienist of the Year 2000. She was Hygienist Mentor to Boots Dentalcare until 2005.

Jacky Hart
Jacky graduated as a dental therapist/hygienist from the Eastman Dental Hospital in 2001. She is a member of the BADT and the BSDHT. Since qualifying, Jacky has completed full training on tooth whitening.

Debbie Mcgovern
Debbie has more than 15 years’ experience in dentistry, She runs Liverpool Implant & Aesthetic Dental Spa with husband Marius and voluntarily runs study days for dental therapists, hygienists and the dental team in the north west.

James Goolnik
James is a dentist and founder of Bow Lane Dental group an award winning practice in London. He is past-president of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. James sits on the board of the British Dental Bleaching Society and his training company “Smiles by James” has trained over 700 Dentists and Hygienists.

The DH&T Award ceremony will take place at the stunning Barbican, Central London on the 24 January 2014. The drinks reception will begin at 6pm followed by a fabulous three-course meal and the awards ceremony itself.

We are within walking distance from a number of London Underground stations, the closest being Barbican, St Paul’s and Moorgate
By Rail
The nearest train stations are Liverpool Street and Farringdon. You can also reach us via City Thameslink at Barbican, Moorgate and Cannon Street.
By Road
The Barbican is clearly sign-posted and has four car parks on Beech Street and Silk Street.
By Foot
Explore the city by visiting us on foot – you can walk to the Barbican within 30 minutes from all over central London.
