8466h4t8yvlt9j

In collaboration with Henry Schein, TePe UK (Molar Ltd) invites DH&Ts to join a team of innovative oral health professionals in four hours of inspiring CPD lectures.

The speakers are:

Jo Dickinson (Dental Hygienist)
‘Beams, Bars and Balls’
The art of dental gymnastics in implant care
Implant structures can vary greatly and often create some challenges for patient and clinicians to clean effectively. This presentation will offer practical methods of cleaning all implant structures with both oral hygiene aids and clinical instrumentation. Additionally there will be guidance on creating protocols, based on the latest research, for implant maintenance in general practice. At the end of the session the attendees can expect to be able to:
1 Identify the many Implant structures and select appropriate instruments for debridement and oral hygiene aids for home maintenance
2 Recognise the features of peri implantitis and identify cases that require referral to an implantologist
3 Create a practical working protocol for their practice regarding Implant care and maintenance that is in line with current recommendations

Dr Amit Patel (Periodontal Specialist)
‘The Three Ps of Perio’
Treating and stabilising perio in practice
How can the patient help improve their periodontal condition so that it can stabilised for their future? Can we as clinicians help in our patients achieve this goal? This presentation will cover what our patients need to do to achieve periodontal stability and from this even allow us to provide periodontal regenerative surgery to improve the prognosis of their teeth. At the end of the session the attendees can expect to be able to:
1 Establish periodontal stability to enable provision of dental implant therapy for your patients
2 Be aware of the role of local adjuncts as part of periodontal and implant maintenance programme

Mike Price (Consultant Pharmacist)
‘Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll’
Drugs and their impact on our daily practice
There are medicines that are used in dentistry and there are other medicines your patients are taking for other conditions that can impact on oral health and, indeed, the practice of dentistry. This talk will look at this latter category, highlighting some of the key medicines your patients may be taking that impact on what you may see clinically (e.g. Hyperplasia), what advice you may need to give (e.g. Patients requiring antibiotics when also taking oral contraceptives) and
how you may need to modify treatment (e.g. In patients taking bisphosphonates, anticoagulants, immunosuppressants etc).
At the end of the session the attendees can expect to be able to:
1 Identify key medicines being taken by your patients that have an impact on your patient management
2 Be aware of any relevant guidance on medicines issued by your professional bodies
3 Where there isn’t a specific guideline you will gain a sufficient understanding to better manage such situations

Elaine Tilling (Dental Hygienist)
‘Evidence Base or Marketing Might?’
Oral hygiene products – what works and why?
This fully interactive presentation will involve the participants in determining their own ‘health dimension’ and seeks to establish an optimal basis for all effective oral hygiene instruction At the end of the session the attendees can expect to be able to:
1 Confirm and revise the evidence base for oral hygiene and interdental cleaning specifically
2 Confirm awareness and understanding of a range of OH products available for managing a range of clinical conditions
3 Establish their own dimension of health and understand the effects that this can have on patient compliance with oral care messages
